Squarespace calendar plugins compared
Squarespace's own Calendar page has a month view and a list, but can't repeat events. Everything else falls into three groups: hosted widgets that keep your events in their own system, code plugins that improve your existing Squarespace events, and a Google Calendar embed.
All options at a glance
| Option | Type | Price | Recurring events | Month view | Uses your Squarespace events |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Squarespace Calendar page | Built in | Included | No | Yes | Yes |
| Elfsight Event Calendar | Hosted widget | Free (200 views/mo), then $5–20/mo billed yearly | Yes, up to 30 dates per series by default | Yes | No |
| Tockify | Hosted widget | Free (agenda only), Premium $8/mo or $80/yr | Premium only | Premium only | No |
| EventCalendarApp | Hosted widget + ticketing | From $39/mo, 7-day free trial | Yes | Yes | No |
| Google Calendar embed | Embed | Free | Yes, set up in Google | Yes | No |

Every option except Squarespace's own page needs the Core plan or higher: Squarespace allows JavaScript and iframes in Code Blocks only on Core and above, and not on trial sites.
Squarespace's built-in Calendar page
Free with your plan and fully in your site's design, with a month layout, a list and a calendar block. Each calendar page holds up to 350 events a month and shows up to 250 upcoming and 30 past ones.
Missing: repeating events. A weekly class means creating every date by hand, as our guide to recurring events in Squarespace explains.
Hosted widgets
A widget is a calendar that lives on the vendor's servers; you paste a snippet into a Code Block. Events are entered in the vendor's dashboard, not in Squarespace, so they don't get Squarespace event pages.
Elfsight Event Calendar
Several layouts, including a month view and a list. The free plan allows 200 views a month with Elfsight branding; paid plans run $5, $10 or $20 a month billed yearly ($6, $12 or $24 monthly) for 5,000 to 150,000 views. Going over the view limit temporarily switches the widget off.
Watch for: repeating events are limited — Elfsight's help says the widget “automatically generates up to 30 occurrences of a recurring event” by default.
Tockify
A clean, long-running calendar service. The free plan shows an agenda view with Tockify branding; repeating events and the month view need Premium at $8 a month or $80 a year, priced per calendar. If you stop paying, the account falls back to the free plan and keeps your events.
EventCalendarApp
Built around ticket sales, with grid, list and calendar views and strong recurring-event support. Plans start at $39 a month and include a monthly cap on ticket sales. A good fit if you sell tickets; a lot to pay for a calendar alone.
Google Calendar embed
Free, and repeating events work because Google handles them. The calendar has to be public, styling is limited, and visitors see Google's look rather than your site's. Step-by-step instructions are in our recurring events guide.
Code plugins for your existing events
These run on your own Squarespace events, so your event pages, design and editing stay as they are. Both are one-time purchases.
- SQSMODS Event & Calendar Filter ($60 once) adds a date picker and filtered event lists.
- Square Websites Universal Filter ($89 once per site) filters any collection, events included.
Neither repeats events.
Recurring Events (ours)
A code plugin that adds the one thing the built-in calendar lacks: tag
an event repeat:weekly, repeat:daily or
repeat:monthly, and every date appears on your site,
built from your own Squarespace events. $39 once, Core plan or higher.
See how it works.
Which one to pick
- No repeating events, and the built-in look is fine: Squarespace's own Calendar page.
- Lots of events and visitors need to filter them: a filter plugin such as SQSMODS or Universal Filter.
- You sell tickets: EventCalendarApp.
- You want a separate, feature-rich calendar and accept a subscription: Elfsight or Tockify.
- Your events live in Google already: the Google embed.
- You want repeating events in your own Squarespace calendar, without a subscription: join the Recurring Events waitlist.
